Executive Director Hodgson Goes to Washington

Road Safe America Executive Director Tom Hodgson was invited by the American Trucking Associations to address the media at a well attended press conference just outside the US Capitol on June 9th 2009.

The occasion was produced to highlight the newly announced 18 Point Safety Agenda of the ATA. Many of the initiatives recommended in the ATA Agenda are identical to the goals of Road Safe America.

Road Safe America was the only safety advocacy group invited to speak at the press briefing. Other speakers included ATA executives, trucking company leaders, insurance industry representatives and even professional truckers themselves. With the Surface Transportation Equity Act up for renewal during the current congress, the timing was critical to put pressure on our legislative leaders to adopt safety rules as they provide funding for highways and bridges.
